Location help
There are a number of ways to specify the location of your sighting - choose the one you prefer:
The simplest way is to give us your what3words location via the what3words app that can be installed on your phone - click on the sighting location and copy the what3words address
e.g. the middle of the bridge over the River Coquet in Rothbury is stream.listen.taking
You could send us your GPS coordinates (longitude and latitude) via Google Maps - click on the sighting location to drop a pin, scroll down to see the information about the pin, click on the GPS coordinates to copy them
e.g. the middle of the bridge over the River Coquet in Rothbury is 55.3084, -1.9087
(which is the same as 55 degrees 18.504 minutes North and 1 degree 54.522 minutes West)
Or you could send us your GPS coordinates from any other app or device you have
You could give us a grid reference from an Ordnance Survey map if you have one, or copy it from your OS Maps app
e.g. the middle of the bridge over the River Coquet in Rothbury is East: 405894 North: 601593
Or you could just describe your location in words
e.g. "the middle of the bridge in Rothbury!"
Tip: even if you don't have a phone signal at the time, maps apps (such as what3words and google maps) often still know your GPS coordinates, which are received from satellites; you could take a screen shot of the app so you can send us the sighting location later.
